TripMate is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information when you use our application.

1. Data Ownership & Storage

TripMate is an offline-first application. All data you enter into the app is stored locally on your device. This includes:

  • Trip itineraries and activity details
  • Packing lists and personal notes
  • Expenses and budgets
  • Documents and photos (stored in the app's local sandbox)

We do not have access to your personal travel data. We do not store your trips or documents on our servers.

2. Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect

Because your data stays on your device, we do not collect:

  • Your name or contact information
  • Your location data (any location detection happens locally via your photo metadata with your permission)
  • The contents of your documents or photos

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following specialized third-party services to provide core app functionality:

  • RevenueCat: Used to manage in-app subscriptions.
  • MapTiler: Used for searching travel destinations and geocoding.
  • Expo / Store: For basic anonymous analytics.
  • Google Drive & Firebase: Used for data synchronization and cloud backup.

4. Photo Library Access

If you grant the app permission to access your photo library, it is used solely to detect country locations from your photos' GPS metadata. This analysis is performed entirely on your device.

5. Data Security

Its security depends on the security of your hardware. We recommend using device passcodes. Data backups (JSON exports) are controlled entirely by you.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy. We will notify you by posting the new policy within the app's settings section.
